Upton, George P(utnam)
Upton, George P(utnam), American writer on music; b. Roxbury, Mass., Oct. 25,1834; d. Chicago, May 19,1919. He studied at Brown Univ., graduating in 1854. He then was music critic of the Chicago Tribune (1863-81), where he was its assoc. ed. (1872-1905).
