Štědroň, Vladimír
Štědroňn, Vladimír, Czech composer, brother of Bohumír Štědroň and uncle of Miloš Štědroň b.Vyškov, March 30, 1900; d. Brno, Dec. 12, 1982. He studied law at the Univ. of Prague; simultaneously took lessons in composition with Foerster, Novák, and Suk at the Prague Cons. (1919–23); then studied musicology with Helfert at the Univ. of Brno. He served for many years as a judge, but found time to compose; later was in Prague as a teacher at the Academy of Music, the Univ., and the Cons. (1951–60). His music is couched in an unassuming style inspired by native folk songs.
