Sheppard, John

Sheppard, John, English composer; b. c. 1515; d. c. 1559. He became Informator choristarum at Magdalen Coll., Oxford, in 1543, and by 1552 he was a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal. His distinguished output of sacred music includes Latin masses, Mass sections, Magnificats, motets, English service music, and anthems.
