Schjelderup, Gerhard (Rosenkrone)

Schjelderup, Gerhard (Rosenkrone), Norwegian composer and writer on music; b. Christiansand, Nov. 17, 1859; d. Benediktbeuren, Bavaria, July 29, 1933. He went to Paris in 1878, and studied with Franchomme (cello) and Massenet and Savard (composition); in 1888 he settled in Germany. He wrote music influenced partly by Wagner, partly by Grieg.
