Rousseau, Marcel (-Auguste-Louis)
Rousseau, Marcel (-Auguste-Louis) , French composer, son of Samuel-Alexandre Rousseau ; b. Paris, Aug. 18, 1882; d. there, June 11, 1955. He studied with his father, then entered the Paris Cons. as a student of Lenepveu; won the Deuxième Premier Grand Prix de Rome with the cantata Maia (1905); later added his father’s first name to his own, and produced his works as Samuel-Rousseau. In 1947 he was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
