Rocherolle, Eugénie

Rocherolle, Eugénie , American composer; b. New Orleans, Aug. 24, 1936. After piano studies in childhood, she pursued training in piano and composition at Sophie Newcomb Coll. of Tulane Univ. She also received training from Boulanger in Paris. In addition to composing, she was also active as a pianist, teacher, and lyricist. Her compositions are unabashedly Romantic in nature. Among her works are America, My Home for Chorus and Concert Band (1976), for the U.S. Bicentennial, The New Colossus for Chorus and Concert Band (1986), for the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, various choral pieces, and much piano music.
