Pollet

Pollet , family of French musicians:

(1) Charles-François-Alexandre Pollet (I’aîne) , citternist, guitarist, and composer; b. Béthune, 1748; d. Evreux, 1815. He was sent to Paris about 1771, where he became well known as a citternist. He wrote a method (1775), compositions, and arrangements for his instrument.

(2) (Jean-Joseph) Benoît Pollet (le jeune) , harpist, music publisher, and composer, brother of the preceding; b. Béthune, 1753; d. Paris, April 16, 1823. He studied harp with J.-B. Krumpholtz. In 1791 he founded his own music shop in Paris, where he organized his own music publishing business about 1802. He wrote a method, a concerto, duos, sonatas, and arrangements for harp.

(3) Joseph Pollet , organist and choirmaster, son of the preceding; b. Paris, April 30, 1803; d. there, 1883. He served as organist and choirmaster at Notre-Dame de Paris from 1830 to 1871.
