Pélissier, Marie
Pélissier, Marie , French singer; b. 1707; d. Paris, March 21, 1749. She made her debut at the Paris Opéra in 1722. After marrying the theater impresario Pélissier in 1725, she appeared at his theater in Rouen until it went bankrupt. Returning to Paris, she was a principal singer at the Académie Royale (1726–34; 1735–41), where she created roles in numerous works, including Rameau’s Aricia in Hippolyte et Aricie (1733), Emilie in Les Indes galantes (1735), Telaïre in Castor et Pollux (1737), and Iphis in both Les fêtes d’Hébé (1739) and Dardanus (1739).
