Paxton, Stephen

Paxton, Stephen , English composer; b. London, 1735; d. there, Aug. 18,1787. He was a pupil of William Savage. His 6 Solos for Cello and Bass, op.l (London, 1772) are particularly admirable, as are many of his glees. He also composed Latin liturgical music.
