Pattiera, Tino
Pattiera, Tino, Croatian tenor; b. Cavtat, near Ra-gusa, June 27, 1890; d. there, April 24,1966. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Music with Ranieri. In 1915 he joined the Dresden Court (later State) Opera, where he was a principal member of the company until 1941. He also sang with the Berlin State Opera (1924–29), and was a guest artist in Chicago, Vienna, Budapest, Paris, Prague, and other music centers. He gave his farewell concert in Dresden in 1948. From 1950 he taught voice at the Vienna Academy of Music. He was most renowned for the lyric roles in Verdi’s operas.
