Pallavicino, Benedetto
Pallavicino, Benedetto, Italian composer; b. Cremona, 1551; d. Mantua, Nov. 26, 1601. He was a court musician in Mantua from 1583 and maestro di cappella to the Duke from 1596. Monteverdi mentions Pallavicino’s death in a letter applying for his post to the Duke of Mantua (Nov. 28, 1601). Pallavicino was a particularly distinguished composer of madrigals.
