Pallandios, Menelaos
Greek composer and pedagogue; b. Piraeus, Feb. 11, 1914. He studied with Mitropoulos in Athens and with Casella in Rome. In 1936 he became an instructor at the Athens Cons., and in 1962 was appointed its director. In 1969 he was elected to the Athens Academy. He wrote music to several ancient Greek tragedies, endeavoring to re-create the classical modes in modern investiture.
