Minchev, Georgi

Minchev, Georgi, Bulgarian composer; b. Sofia, Jan. 29, 1939. He studied composition with Goleminov at the Bulgarian State Cons, in Sofia, graduating in 1963, then went to Moscow and studied with Shchedrin (1968–70). In 1972 he traveled to France, Great Britain, and the U.S. on a UNESCO scholarship. Returning to Bulgaria, Minchev became chief of productions at the Committee for Television and Radio in Sofia.

(1975); Piano Concerto (1976); Symphonic Prologue (1980); choruses; solo songs; folk song arrangements.
