Micheletti, Gaston

Micheletti, Gaston, French tenor; b. Tavaco, Corsica, Jan. 5, 1892; d. Ajaccio, May 21, 1959. He was a student at the Paris Cons. In 1922 he made his operatic debut as Gounod’s Faust in Rheims. In 1925 he became a member of the Paris Opéra-Comique, where he remained a principal artist for 2 decades. He also made guest appearances in Brussels, Nice, and Monte Carlo. In later years, he was active as a voice teacher in Paris and then in Ajaccio. Among his admired roles were Don José, Des Grieux, and Werther.
