Lamote de Grignon y Ribas, Ricardo

Lamote de Grignon y Ribas, Ricardo, Catalan cellist, conductor, and composer, son of Juan Lamote de Grignon; b. Barcelona, Sept. 23, 1899; d. there, Feb. 5, 1962. He studied cello and composition at the Barcelona Cons. He played cello in the Orquesta Sinfònica of Barcelona, conducted by his father; then conducted provincial orchs.; became asst. conductor of the municipal band of Barcelona. He publ. a manual, Sintesis de tècnica musical (Barcelona, 1948). His Enigmas for Orch. won the Barcelona Municipal Prize in 1951.
