Lagger, Peter
Lagger, Peter, Swiss bass; b. Buchs, Sept. 7, 1930; d. Berlin, Sept. 17, 1979. He studied at the Zürich Cons, and with Hans Duhan in Vienna. In 1953 he made his operatic debut in Graz, and appeared there until 1955. He then sang in Zürich(1955-57), Wiesbaden (1957–59), and Frankfurt am Main (1959–63), and from 1963 was a leading member of the Berlin Deutsche Oper. He made appearances in Hamburg, Vienna, Paris, and Geneva, and also at the Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence, and Glynde-bourne festivals. His extensive operatic, concert, and lieder repertoire extended from Bach to Henze.
