Krsti?, Petal, Serbian composer; b. Belgrade, March 2, 1877; d. there, Jan. 21, 1957. He studied with R. Fuchs at the Vienna Cons. He conducted opera at Belgrade’s National Theater, and in 1930 became inspector of music schools. His works, based on Serbian national tunes, included the opera Zulum?ar (Belgrade, Nov. 23, 1927), the cantata, Jutro Slobode (1919); several orch. suites of national dances, choruses, and songs. He ed. a Serbian music dictionary.
