Koch, (Richert) Sigurd (Valdemar) von
Koch, (Richert) Sigurd (Valdemar) von, Swedish composer, father of (Sigurd Christian) Erland von Koch; b. Agno, near Stockholm, June 28, 1879; d. Stockholm, March 16, 1919. He studied piano at the Richard Andersson School and composition with Lindegren, and later piano in Berlin (1905, 1912) and Dresden (1905). He was active in Stockholm as an accompanist and music critic, as well as a painter and poet. He wrote orch. works, much chamber music, and numerous songs in a late Romantic idiom.
