Koch, Eduard Emil
Koch, Eduard Emil, German clergyman and music scholar; b. Schloss Solitude, near Stuttgart, Jan. 20, 1809; d. Stuttgart, April 27, 1871. He became pastor in Gross-Anspach (1837), then at Heilbronn (1847), where he was superintendent (1853–64). He was an authority on Lutheran church music and wrote Geschichte des Kirchenliedes und Kirchengesanges, insbesondere der deutschen evangelischen Kirche (1847; 3rd ed., 8 vols., 1866-77).
