Kaspszyk, Jacek
Kaspszyk, Jacek, Polish conductor; b. Biala, Aug. 10, 1952. He received training in theory, composition, and conducting at the Warsaw Cons., graduating in 1975. In 1975 he made his debut at the Warsaw Opera. From 1976 to 1982 he was chief conductor of the Polish Radio National Sym. Orch. in Katowice. He then settled in England, where he made his first appearance at the London Promenade Concerts in 1984. Thereafter he appeared as a guest conductor with the principal British orchs., and also with many orchs. on the Continent. In 1992 he made his debut at the English National Opera in London with II Barbiere di Siviglia. From 1998 he was artistic director of the Warsaw Opera.
