Jehannot de l’Escurel or Jehan de LesCurel, French composer; b. place and date unknown; d. (hanged) Paris, May 23, 1304. He was still a young cleric at Notre Dame when he was charged by the authorities for debauchery and hanged. His works number 34 pieces, including ballades, rondeaux, virelais, and diz-entés. They were ed. by N. Wilkins in Corpus Mensurabilis Musicae, XXX (1966).
