Jackson, George Pullen
Jackson, George Pullen, American folklorist; b. Monson, Maine, Aug. 20, 1874; d. Nashville, Term., Jan. 19, 1953. He studied philology in Dresden and at the Univ. of Chicago (Ph.B., 1904; Ph.D., 1911). He was a teacher of German at Vanderbilt Univ. (191&-43), founder of the Tenn. State Sacred Harp Singing Assn., and president of the Term. Folklore Soc. (1942).
