Harrison, May, English violinist, sister of Beatrice Harrison; b. Roorkee, India, March 1891; d. South Nutfield, Surrey, June 8, 1959. She was a pupil of Arbos and Rivarde at the Royal Coll. of Music in London, winning its gold medal at age 10. In 1904 she made her debut in London. After completing her training with Auer in St. Petersburg, she pursued her career mainly in England, often appearing in concerts with her sister. Delius composed his Double Concerto for the Harrison sisters, and also dedicated his 3rd Violin Sonata to May.
