Guarrera, Frank

Guarrera, Frank, American baritone; b. Philadelphia, Dec. 3, 1923. He studied voice with Richard Bonelli in Philadelphia. On Dec. 14, 1948, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. as Escamillo in Carmen, where he remained on its roster until 1976. He was invited by Toscanini to sing at La Scala in Milan; also made guest appearances in San Francisco, Chicago, Paris, and London. He was best known for his performances of Italian roles.
