Glanert, Detlev, German composer; b. Hamburg, Sept. 6, 1960. He was 12 when he began to compose and receive lessons in trumpet and double bass. He pursued formal training in composition with Diether de la Motte (1981-82) and Gunther Friedrichs and Frank Michael Beyer (1982-84) in Hamburg, and with Hans Werner Henze in Cologne (1984-88).
