Gange, Fraser
Gange, Fraser, distinguished Scottish-American baritone and pedagogue; b. Dundee, June 17, 1886; d. Baltimore, July 1, 1962. He studied with his father in Dundee and with Amy Sherwin in London. After making his debut at 16, he toured in England, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand. On Jan. 18, 1924, he made his U.S. debut in N.Y, and subsequently toured as an oratorio and lieder artist. He also taught at the Peabody Cons, of Music in Baltimore (1931–57) and at the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y. (summers, 1932–6).
