Franck, Richard
Franck, Richard, German pianist, son of Eduard Franck; b. Cologne, Jan. 3, 1858; d. Heidelberg, Jan. 22, 1938. He studied with his father in Berlin and also attended the Leipzig Cons. (1878–80). He was in Basel from 1880 to 1883 and again from 1887 until 1900, and was active there as a pianist and teacher. He later lived in Kassel, and finally in Heidelberg. He was highly regarded as an interpreter of Beethoven’s sonatas. He publ. a book of memoirs, Musikalische und unmusikalische Erinnerungen (Heidelberg, 1928).
