Formé, Nicolas

Formé, Nicolas, French countertenor and composer; b. Paris, April 26, 1567; d. there, May 27, 1638. He entered the priesthood and by 1592 he was a singer at the Royal Chapel, where he served as sous-maitre and composer from 1609 until his death. An accomplished composer of sacred music, he wrote Aeterane Henrici magni…missam hanc duobus choris for 4/5 voices (Paris, 1638) and 8 Magnificat settings on the 8 church modes.
