Finck, Herman [ Herman van de Vinck] (b London, 1872; d London, 1939). Eng. composer and conductor. At 16 was pianist and violinist at Palace Th., London, becoming cond. there 1900. Mus. dir. Drury Lane 1922–31. Comp. comic operas, such as Katinka, and th. mus. Best known for his short piece In the Shadows (1910).
