Feicht, Hieronim
Feicht, Hieronim, Polish musicologist; b. Mogilno, near Poznari, Sept. 22, 1894; d. Warsaw, March 31, 1967. He studied theology, then composition in Krakow, and musicology with Chybiriski at the Univ. of Lwow (Ph.D., 1925); later completed his Habilitation at the Univ. of Poznan (1946). He taught at the Krakow Cons, from 1927 to 1930 and again from 1935 to 1939; in the interim he was a prof, at the State Coll. of Music in Warsaw (1930–32). From 1946 to 1952 he was chairman of the musicology dept. at the Univ. of Wroclaw; was rector of the State Coll. of Music in Wroclaw (1948–52), and a prof, of music history at the Univ. of Warsaw (1952–64). He publ. important essays on Polish music: Musik-historische Bemerkungen uber die Lemberger Hand-schriften des Bogarodzica-Liedes (Poznan, 1925); Wojciech Debolecki, Ein polnischer Kirchenkomponist aus der 1. Halfte des 17. Jahrhunderts (Lwow, 1926); Polifonia renesansu (Kraków, 1957); also ed. works by Polish composers. A Festschrift was publ. in honor of his 70th birthday in 1964.
