Engerer, Brigitte
Engerer, Brigitte, French pianist; b. Tunis, Oct. 27, 1952. She was taken to Paris at an early age, where at 6 she became a pupil of Lucette Descaves and made her public debut. After further training at the Paris Cons., she completed her studies with Stanislav Neuhaus at the Moscow Cons. (graduated, 1975). She won prizes at the Long-Thibaud Competition in Paris (sixth, 1969), the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (6th, 1974), and the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Competition in Brussels (third, 1978). Engerer appeared as a soloist with the world’s leading orchs. and gave recitals in the major music centers.
