Ellsworth, Warren (b Worcester, Mass., 1950; d Houston, 1993). Amer. tenor. Début Houston Opera as bar. (Malatesta in Don Pasquale), as ten. Houston 1979 ( Prince Paul in Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein). Brit. début WNO 1981 and in 1983 sang Parsifal, cond. Goodall; Bayreuth Fest. 1984; CG 1986 (with WNO); ENO (Parsifal). CG (with Royal Opera) 1988. Joined Deutsche Oper, Berlin, 1989, where his roles incl. Don José, Samson, Siegmund, Lohengrin, and Parsifal. Last sang in London 1991.
