Desarzens, Victor
Desarzens, Victor, Swiss conductor; b. Chateau d’Oex, Oct. 27, 1908; d. Lausanne, Feb. 13, 1986. After studies with Porta (violin) and Hoesslin (conducting) at the Lausanne Cons., he completed his training with Enesco. He began his career as first violinist in the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva and as a chamber music player. In 1942 he founded a chamber ensemble in Lausanne, which later became the Lausanne Chamber Orch., which he led until 1973 in radio broadcasts and tours of Europe. He also was music director of the Winterthur Musikkollegium (1945–76).
