Decadt, Jan
Decadt, Jan , Belgian composer; b. Ypres, June 21, 1914. He studied with Joseph Ryelandt at the Ghent Cons., and later with Jean Absil in Brussels. He was director of the music school in Harelbeke from 1945, and in 1957 was appointed prof, of fugue at the Antwerp Cons. From 1971 he taught composition at the Ghent Cons. His musical style is marked by strong polyphonic structures with impressionistic coloration.
