Couperin, Pierre-Louis

Couperin, Pierre-Louis , organist and composer, known as M. Couperin 1’aine or Couperin fils , son of Armand-Louis Couperin; b. Paris, March 14, 1755; d. there, Oct. 10, 1789. He was organist to the King, and later at Notre-Dame, St.-Jean, St.-Merry, and St.-Gervais, succeeding his father at the latter earlrly in 1789. He died 8 months later. Some of his compositions were publ. in contemporary collections; others are in MS.
