Couperin, Charles

Couperin, Charles , organist; b. Chaumes (baptized), April 9, 1638; d. Paris, between Jan. 15 and Feb. 26, 1679. He succeeded his brother Louis as organist at St.-Gervais in 1661. He married Marie Guerin (Feb. 20, 1662), and is principally remembered as being the father of the celebrated François le Grand.
