Coenen, Cornelis
Coenen, Cornelis, Dutch violinist, conductor, teacher, and composer, brother of Johannes (Meinar-dus) Coenen; b. The Hague, March 19, 1838; d. Arnhem, March 15, 1913. He studied violin as a youth and made tours of Germany and France. He then was conductor of the Utrecht orch. (1860–92). In 1892 he went to Nijmegen, where he was active as a conductor and teacher. He wrote vocal works, chamber music, and piano pieces.
