Chaumont, Lambert
Chaumont, Lambert, South Netherlands priest and composer; b. probably in Liè, c. 1630; d. Huy, April 23, 1712. He became a lay brother at the Carmelite monastery in Liè in 1649. After completing his novitiate at the Rheims monastery, he returned to the Carmelite monastery in Liè. In 1674 he became rector of the parish of St. Martin in Huy. From 1688 he was pater of the Carmelites in Huy and a priest in the parish of St. Germain. He publ. a fine vol. of Pièces d’orgue sur les 8 tons (Huy, 1695; ed. in Monuments leodiensium musicorum, series A, I, 1939, and in Le pupitre, XXV, 1970).
