Casadesus, Jean (Claude Michel)

French pianist, son of Robert (Marcel) Casadesus and Gaby Casadesus; b. Paris, July 7, 1927; d. in an automobile accident near Renfrew, Ontario, Canada, Jan. 20, 1972. He studied piano with his parents; at the outbreak of World War II, he went to the U.S. and studied at Princeton Univ. He won the contest for young soloists held by the Philadelphia Orch. in 1946; then appeared as soloist with the N.Y. Phil, and with major European orchs.
