Casadesus, François Louis

French conductor and composer, brother of Henri Casadesus and Marius Casadesus; b. Paris, Dec. 2, 1870; d. there, June 27, 1954. He studied at the Paris Cons. He conducted the Opéra and the Opéra-Comique of Paris on tour in France (1890–92); in 1895 he conducted the Opéra on a European tour; he was the founder and director (1918–22) of the American Cons, at Fontainebleau; later was active as a radio conductor and wrote music criticism. A collection of valedictory articles was publ. in honor of his 80thbirthday (Paris, 1950).
