Carner, Mosco (b Vienna, 1904; d Stratton, nr. Bude, 1985). Austrian-born conductor and critic. Cond. opera at Opava, Cz., 1929–30 and Danzig 1930–3. Settled London 1933, working as cond. and as London correspondent for some continental papers. Contrib. criticism to many Eng. newspapers and periodicals. Author of several books, notably Puccini (1958, 2nd edn. 1974) and Alban Berg (1975).
