Bujarski, Zbigniew

Bujarski, Zbigniew, Polish composer and pedagogue; b. Muszyna, Aug. 21, 1933. He received training in conducting (1955–58) and in composition (with Stanistaw Wiechowicz, 1956–50) at the State Higher School of Music in Kraków. In 1972 he joined its faculty, where he served as dean of the dept. of composition, conducting, and theory (1978–86) and as a prof, of composition (from 1992). In 1979 and 1987 he received the Minister of Culture and Arts Award, Second Class, in 1984 he was honored with the Award of the Polish Composers’ Union and the City of Kraków Award, and in 1991 he received the Alfred Jurzykowski Foundation Award of the U.S.
