Brent, Charlotte

Brent, Charlotte, English soprano; b. c. 1735; d. London, April 10, 1802. She studied with Arne, making her operatic debut in his Eliza at the Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin on Nov. 29, 1755; then sang at London’s Drury Lane Theatre and at Covent Garden. She was noted for her performances of Polly in The Beggar’s Opera and for corresponding roles in Handel’s operas.
