Brediceanu, Tiberiu

Brediceanu, Tiberiu, Romanian composer, administrator, and music editor; b. Lugoj, Transylvania, April 2, 1877; d. Bucharest, Dec. 19, 1968. He studied music mainly in Romania. He was director of the Astra Cons, in Brasov (1934–40) and director-general of the Romanian Opera in Bucharest (1941–44). He publ. valuable collections of Romanian songs and dances, including 170 Romanian folk melodies, 810 tunes of the Banat regions, and 1, 000 songs of Transylvania.
