Bordogni, Giulio Marco

Bordogni, Giulio Marco, Italian tenor and singing teacher; b. Gazzaniga, near Bergamo, Jan. 23, 1789; d. Paris, July 31, 1856. He was a pupil of Simon Mayr. He made his operatic debut in 1808 at La Scala, Milan. From 1819 to 1833 he was engaged at the Théâtre-Italien in Paris. He later devoted himself primarily to teaching, joining the staff of the Paris Cons. in 1820. He publ. a collection of 36 vocalises, in 2 vols., which became a standard book of vocal exercises throughout Europe.
