Bečvařovský, Anton Felix (actually, Antonín František)
Bečvařovský, Anton Felix (actually, Antonín František), Bohemian organist, teacher, and composer; b. Miadá Boleslav, April 9, 1754; d. Berlin, May 15, 1823. After music studies at the Piarist Coll. of Kosmonosy (1767–74), he completed his training with Kuchar in Prague. He was an organist in Prague before serving as organist at the Hauptkirche and Kapellmeister to the Duke of Braunschweig (1779–96). In 1800 he settled in Berlin as a music teacher. He composed five keyboard concertos (one arranged for two Harpsichords), chamber music, many solo piano pieces, and songs.
