Andrašovan, Tibor

Andrašovan, Tibor, Slovak composer and conductor; b. Slovenská L’upča, April 3, 1917. He studied at the Comenius Univ. (1937–41) and with Suchoň (composition) and Vincourek and Schimpl (conducting) at the Cons. (1940–45) in Bratislava. He completed his training in Prague (1945), where he studied with Ddeček and Doležil (conducting) and took courses at the Charles Univ. From 1950 to 1957, and again from 1968 to 1972, he was artistic director of the SL’U.K. Folk Music and Dance Ensemble. In 1971 he received the title of Artist of Merit and in 1997 the Order of Milan Rastislav štefánik.
