Underworld 1996
Underworld ★★ 1996 (R)
Considering the onscreen talent, this crime comedy/thriller is a disappointment. Ex-wiseguy Johnny Crown (Leary) studied psychotherapy in the joint and, when he's released, decides to put his new knowledge to work on bossman Frank Gavilan (Mantegna), who may be behind the hit on Johnny's old man. Contrived dialogue and story but a sleeklooking production. 95m/C VHS, DVD . Denis Leary, Joe Mantegna, Annabella Sciorra, Larry Bishop, Abe Vigoda, James Tolkan, Robert Costanzo; D: Roger Christian; W: Larry Bishop; C: Steven Bernstein; M: Anthony Marinelli.
