The Truth About Charlie
The Truth About Charlie ★★½ 2002 (PG-13)
Jonathan Demme's remake of the Cary Grant-Audrey Hepburn vehicle “Charade” has the same Paris setting and convoluted plot, but not much of the carefree attitude of the original. Regina (Newton) comes home from a vacation and finds that her hus band Charlie has been murdered, and that he was more than he seemed, as the po lice produce several passports that show Charlie with a different name and dis guise. She also discovers that she now has a trio of her husband's former col leagues following her, looking for his hidden six million dollars. As an homage to the French New Wave cinema that was blooming when the original was filmed, Demme includes cameos of several lumi naries of the genre. 104m/C VHS, DVD .
