Kill Bill Vol. 2 ★★★½ 2004 (R)

The Bride continues to work her way through her former associates on the way to the big showdown with Bill, where she discovers some unexpected developments. This volume has less action than the first, but it is just as intense. All that was hidden in Vol. 1 is revealed, and it's done with more of the character development and dialogue-driven scenes that some thought were lacking in the first installment. The two volumes are so vastly different in tone and style that it seems odd that they were intended as one (very) long movie, but the idea of seeing them united into one film is intriguing. Carradine gives what might be the finest performance of his career as the enigmatic Bill. Thurman proves that her work on set was more than just physical, and that she can carry a movie even when she isn't carrying a sword. 137m/C DVD, UMD .
